The Mayor’s Charity Ball

The Mayor’s Charity Ball is held in January each year in collaboration with HopeWorks to provide discretionary monies that allow these two nonprofit service organizations to respond to the needs of the community. The Bridge welcomes donations to The Mayor’s Charity Ball on many levels.  You can become an event sponsor (sponsorships range from a $100 business-card-sized ad in the program book to a major event sponsor up to the Galaxy Sponsor level of $10,000).  Another way to support the ball is by donating an item to the live and silent auctions that will feature an outstanding array of unique and creative items.  The event also requires an energized committee of volunteers who contribute their time and talents in many ways from soliciting sponsorships, to making centerpieces, to packaging and arranging auction items, to preparing mailings. Breakfast on The Bridge

The annual September breakfast for school and human service professionals and other community leaders from West Hartford and the surrounding region is an opportunity for individuals who work with young people and families to network and share services. The Bridge welcomes sponsorships and donations of food—baked goods, fruit, juice, and coffee—fall flowers, and paper goods.

Tune-In to Life

Tune-In to Life Week, which is held each year in early spring, offers programs and events to promote positive, healthy activities for all ages and to raise community awareness about drug and alcohol abuse. West Hartford residents are invited to participate in a variety of activities, both educational and fun, that are sponsored by several organizations in town. Volunteers are invited to serve on the committee that plans the week’s events, to help prepare large mailings, and to become involved in the details of individual events.

Family Fun Run

The annual Family 5K Fun Run/2K Walk is held annually in conjunction with Tune-In to Life Week.  T-shirts are given to the first 125 registrants for the run/walk, and several prizes are raffled off.  The event is sponsored by The Bridge and the West Hartford Substance Abuse Prevention Commission, along with other community organizations and commercial sponsors.  Volunteers are needed to serve on the Fun Run Committee and to work the day of the run/walk.  We welcome your sponsorship—sponsor names appear on the back of over 1200 T-shirts and more than 1,300 flyers that are distributed around town.  Donation of food items, T-shirts, and raffle items is greatly appreciated. Teen Events

A variety of activities and special events for teens are held throughout the year.  Donations of individual servings of beverages and snacks, as well as raffle prizes and gift certificates, are very much appreciated. Volunteers are needed to chaperone teen events that are usually held on
Friday or Saturday evenings.
