Summer Adventure |
|
Youngsters
entering grades 6-8 can sign up for another summer of fun and
adventure, including games, crafts, swimming and field trips to such
destinations as the
Mystic Aquarium, Forest Park Zoo, The Children’s Museum, and
Connecticut Golf Land, as well as an outing to Lake Compounce.
Four week-long sessions have been scheduled in July and August
running Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic for Children |
|
The Bridge has opened a state-sanctioned Outpatient
Psychiatric Clinic for Children (OPCC) following a
rigorous year-and-a-half approval process. The
state designation will enable The Bridge to accept
health insurance payments for therapy and psychiatry
services. "We've seen a 58 percent increase in
referrals from last year alone," says Pat Doherty,
Director of Youth and Family Services at The Bridge.

Bridge Gala Gets a New Name |
|
The
Bridge will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2009 with
a new name for its annual fundraising gala reflecting
The Bridge's role in providing services to children in
the West Hartford community. The renamed
Children's Charity Ball will be held January 24, 2009 at
the Hartford Golf Club, with Channel 3 TV personality
Scot Haney once again serving as emcee. Formerly
known as the Mayor's Charity Ball, the sold-out event
raised $190,000 in 2008.
