STRIKING A BALANCE -- Middle-school youngsters enrolled in the Bridge Family Center’s Summer Adventure program get a lesson in teamwork on the balance board at the Bugbee School ropes course in West Hartford.  The week-long program of arts & crafts, sports, field trips and other group activities is offered four times over the summer by Bridge-run Youth Services Bureau.

READY, SET, READ! -- Pre-kindergarteners get a taste of things to come at the Family Resource Center’s “1-2-3 Read with Me” summer program at Charter Oak Academy in West Hartford.  Parent educator Joanne Hall reads a story to the class as part of a “print-rich” curriculum intended to build vocabulary and prepare youngsters for reading.  The Family Resource Center offers an integrated system of family support services that enhance parenting, promote family involvement with the schools and help children to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
