15th Annual
Children's Charity Ball
January 18, 2014
Hartford Golf Club

The Bridge's Children's Charity Ball was held at the Hartford Golf Club on January 18, 2014. Silver stars and streamers hung from the ceiling as 375 guests celebrated the Bridge's 15th annual gala. The theme for the evening was  "Reach for the Stars" - what the Bridge hopes to inspire in the lives of the children and families it serves. The club was decorated with bright pink cyclamen and ivy, and pink, green and silver balloons. The Bridge's signature fundraiser for its programs for children and families, the gala netted more than $270,000.

United Technologies was the Presenting Sponsor and Peter and Cynthia Gutermann, UTC Propulsion & Aerospace Systems, served as Honorary Chairs. Scot Haney, Channel 3 meteorologist and co-host of "Better Connecticut," was the emcee for the 13th year in a row.

The evening featured:

  • a black-tie cocktail reception
  • a sit-down dinner
  • live and silent auctions and
  • dancing to the music of the Timmy Maia Band

Many businesses and individuals donated items to the silent and live auctions, including fine jewelry, tickets to sporting events, and fine dining experiences. Many businesses and individuals were sponsors of the gala. See the complete sponsorship list.

Last year, the Bridge served more than 7,500 people through school-based services; counseling for young people and stressed families; the West Hartford Teen Center; the Family Resource Center; eight residential programs for youth; and community events, such as the annual Breakfast on the Bridge to honor those who provide services for children and families in our community. The Bridge responds to emergency situations throughout the year in both public and private schools. The Bridge is a state-sanctioned OPCC, or Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic for Children.
