Education & Training

Our Family Resource Center has an abundance of programs, classes, and services available to parents and caregivers to assist with raising children, learning English, integrating into the community, and further developing interpersonal and leadership skills.

What is West Hartford PLTI?

West Hartford PLTI (Parent Leadership Training Institute) is a free, 20 week initiative that teaches leadership, civics, and advocacy skills to any parent or adult in West Hartford who seeks to improve the wellbeing of children in our community. Each participant will plan and execute a  personal passion project that helps children and families in our town. The class meets weekly from January to June and we provide free dinner to the participants and their children, as well as free childcare for any of their school aged children.

If you have any questions about PLTI, please contact Kathryn Deane at kdeane@bridgefamilycenter.org.

Apply for PLTI!

Due to overwhelming demand for the program this year, we are now only accepting applications to be added to the waitlist for any last minute 2026 drops or to be first in line for next year’s 2027 interview pool.

NOTE: If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, call 211. If you can not wait safely, please call 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.
