UPDATE - MARCH 23  COUNSELING CENTERS REMAIN OPEN AND OFFER TELEHEALTH THERAPY OPTION

The Bridge Family Center remains open for mental health counseling services during the Coronavirus pandemic. Therapists are available to meet with clients to discuss a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, feelings of isolation, and other mental health issues.

“During these very challenging times, children, adults, and families are experiencing heightened emotions and the need for our mental health services has never been greater. Now, and in the coming weeks, we will be here for people who are having difficulties navigating these unchartered waters,” stated Margaret Hann, Executive Director of the Bridge Family Center. “As self-quarantine continues, it is imperative that people who already have a relationship with a Bridge therapist continue their treatment plans. As our world continues to change on a daily basis, people who have not previously sought help will find they want the support counseling provides. We are now able to offer services utilizing many different avenues and are ready to accommodate our clients in the way they are most comfortable,” Hann concluded.

Hann explained there are several options for delivering these services and meeting the needs of those seeking care. The Bridge Family Center clinics in West Hartford, Avon, and Rockville are open and therapists are available to meet one-on-one in the clinic setting. With the need for social distancing, the Bridge also offers therapy sessions by phone and through Telehealth. Telehealth allows therapists to teleconference securely with clients using a variety of technologies including smart phones, iPads, or computers. Through real-time interaction with their therapists, clients are able to remain safely in their home during their counseling session. Face-to-face communication increases the client’s engagement with their therapist. Telehealth is covered by the majority of insurance carriers.

To access mental health services, please call the Bridge Family Center at 860.521.8035 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. After 1:00 p.m., call the Counseling Center directly at 860.313.1119.

UPDATE - MARCH 13

With the Coronavirus pandemic evolving by the hour, we are all experiencing heightened emotions in regards to the changes and accommodations we must make to our daily lives. During this time of uncertainty, one constant remains and that is our commitment to our children, families, and staff. They are our top priority and we have instituted a number of measures to ensure their safety and well-being.

These protocols allow us to continue to meet the needs of those we serve while minimizing the risk of virus contamination. Our shelters and counseling centers remain open and are following the guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control. Sanitary precautions are in place and staff are implementing best practices to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Our Family Resource Center and Teen Center operate on the West Hartford school system calendar. Both of the Centers will be closed until the schools reopen.

As an organization, we have suspended internal and external meetings until further notice. Staff that are able to work remotely are encouraged to do so. While we are limiting visitors to our shelters and administrative offices, we are open, answering phones, and able to respond to your questions and concerns.

While these are certainly challenging times, we are committed to providing the essential services that define the Bridge and our mission. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
