Counseling Support at the Bridge

We are pleased to announce Bridge Central, our new counseling center, at 1021 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford is now open.

The Bridge Family Center purchased property at 1021 Farmington Avenue in 2020 to house our new larger mental health clinic. After extensive interior and exterior renovations, the site opened in September of 2022.

The new building allows us to serve 30% more clients than our previous location, with an estimated 700 people treated within our first year of operation. 70% of the children and adults we will counsel are low-income, a population that is especially underserved in the area of mental and behavioral health.

High demand for our services, coupled with limited space in our previous location, necessitated this move. The new building doubles the number of counseling rooms and adds a dedicated space for group therapy. Additional therapists will be hired to meet the growing need for community-based mental and behavioral health services.

Counseling programs offered in the clinic provide crisis counseling, stabilization, and individual, couple, and family therapy. They promote mental health, improve functioning, and effectively decrease the prevalence and incidence of mental illness, emotional disturbances, and social dysfunction. The services are available to every individual and family regardless of their ability to pay.

We are here to help you communicate with loved ones, cope with difficult issues, and manage stress. Our counseling centers are licensed as Outpatient Psychiatric Clinics for Children (OPCC). We adhere to the high standards of excellence required by this license and have located our clinicians in West Hartford, Avon, and Rockville to serve clients both east and west of the Connecticut River.

Each counseling center offers therapy treatments to address a broad range of concerns for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. We focus on issues such as: depression, anxiety, grief, divorce, substance abuse, defiance, anger management, self-destructive behaviors, and identity/LGBTQ-related journeys.

To Schedule an Appointment

This intake call takes approximately 15 minutes, and if you have insurance, you will need to have your information before the first appointment can be made. Weekday, evening, and Saturday appointments are available.

Our payment philosophy

Simply stated, "no one is turned away." As a designated Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic for Children (OPCC), the Bridge accepts many private health insurance plans, as well as Medicaid, Medicare, and TriCare. If your insurance does not cover our counseling, we will adjust your fee to a level you can afford. We're here to help.
