Every Family. Every Child. Every Time.
Who We Help

Children & Teens

We care about the future of our community's children, so we offer numerous programs and services for children from birth through the teenage years. The kids in our programs have a wide range of needs—some are in need of social and academic mentoring, some are struggling with difficult life issues, while others may be in need of a safe environment and a second chance. Whatever the problem, we offer them hope because we believe there is good and potential in everyone. By building confidence and teaching empowerment and possibility, we help young people see that each new day is an opportunity to better their lives.

Our Youth and Family Services programs provide counseling, mentoring, and support groups for young people who are struggling with difficult life issues, such as depression, divorce, anger issues, death of a loved one, drug and alcohol abuse, and more. Youth development programs focus on a young person's strengths and foster a sense of competence, usefulness, and belonging.

Our Family Resource Center supports the healthy development of families in our community. It offers an integrated system of family support services that enhance parenting, promote family involvement in the schools, and help children to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. There are many programs for children from birth through elementary school.

Our Residential programs provide teenagers and young adults whose lives are in crisis with shelter and a safe environment. Our staff works to resolve the crisis responsible for displacing the child or teen and to obtain long-term living situations for their future. Here they receive counseling services, basic needs, and the skills necessary to become self-sufficient.

  • A recent Yale study found that 30% of homeless youth in CT had been raped at some point in their lives.
  • Parents spend only 38.5minutes a week in meaningful conversation with their children.
  • Suicide is the third leading cause of death in youth between the ages of 10 and 24.
