30th Annual Breakfast on the Bridge

On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, the Bridge Family Center hosted the 30th Annual Breakfast on the Bridge to celebrate the collaboration among members of the West Hartford school community, town and state government officials, and Bridge staff to support local children and families.

"Collaboration with our school communities and local safety organizations is a critical part of how we support children and families in West Hartford," notes Margaret Hann, Executive Director of the Bridge Family Center. "The Breakfast gives us a chance to celebrate that collaboration and maintain our strong relationships, while honoring people who have gone above and beyond in our shared work."

A favorite part of the event is the ceremony to honor the recipient of the Build No Fences Award, which honors an individual who sees no boundaries and works collaboratively with child advocates to support young people and families.

This year, the award was given to Judy Bierly, longtime Director of Community Services at the Bridge. "Judy is well known to all of us who work for the Town of West Hartford," says Renee McCue, Public Relations Specialist. "She has all the answers when it comes to youth services and community engagement, and when you say her name, you can't help but smile."

The Bridge would like to thank St. James's Church, Panera Bread, and Starbucks Coffee for the support they offered to this event.
